Porto Alegre has in its DNA the generation of business, since its origin, with the arrival of the Azoreans and, later, the creation of the Public Market, the Commercial Association of Porto Alegre in 1858 and the courses of the Instituto Superior de Comércio in 1904 ( that gave rise to PUCRS).
Feeling this need to invest in a business office for the city, the Porto Alegre and Metropolitan Region Convention & Visitors Bureau - POACVB was implemented in 1997.
